  1. Who is LASCANA? They are a global brand that specializes in women’s fashion, swim, and lingerie. They were established in Hamburg, Germany in 2006, and later launched LASCANA USA in 2017 from Jacksonville, Florida. The brand’s goal is to design and produce stunning and affordable clothing, swimwear, and lingerie that caters to every woman’s unique needs, from sizes 0 to 24 and cups AA to G.
  2. Do they claim to be sustainable? They don’t state anything on their site regarding efforts in sustainability, or ways that they give back to the community. So, I reached out to them via their instant chat and asked if they are a sustainable company, and they answered “Yes” with no further explanation. In this section of the review, I will be thoroughly reviewing each item I ordered and will provide detailed information about the shipment and return/refund process. Keep reading for more!

Review

I ordered the below items on 6/12/23 to my address in North Carolina (United States). I paid a total of $226.32 to Lascana (lascanapaypal@lascana.com) via PayPal. The charge appears on my credit card statement as “PAYPAL *LASCANA”. – View Order Confirmation 

1) Crochet Insert Tank Top

  • Color, Size, and Cost: White / 8-10 / $32
  • Country: Made in Turkey
  • Material: Main– 100% Viscose Lace– 100% Cotton
  • Description: This tank top’s material feels like your standard, moderately stretchy, semi-rough t-shirt. It is thin and a bit see-through. The lace is thick, has a rough feeling to it, and is not stretchy.
  • Expectation: It is what I was expecting, for the most part, in terms of overall appearance. The material is a bit thinner and more see-through in person.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is okay. I see some loose threads and misaligned seams. It is comparable to a tank top you might find at Target or H&M.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits at least one size too big. View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this tank top is overpriced.

2) Pleated Striped Dress

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Multi / 8 / $69
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 100% Polyester
  • Description: This dress feels very soft. It has zero stretch, and is pretty thin (but not see-through). The material has a similar look and feel to satin.
  • Expectation: It isn’t quite what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance. I was expecting the pink belt to come with it (I thought this was part of the dress) but it is a separate accessory. Perhaps an oversight on my part, but I think the product image is a bit misleading.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is decent. It is comparable to a dress you might find at Target or H&M.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits at least one size too big. View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this dress is VERY overpriced.

3) Plunge Triangle Bikini Top & Loop Classic Bikini Bottom

  • Color, Size, and Cost:
    • Top: Yellow Multi / 34 C-D / $46
    • Bottom: Yellow Multi / 8 / $34
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 84% Polyamide, and 16% Elastane
  • Description: This bikini’s material is pretty standard in terms of thickness, stretchiness, and overall feel. It is double-layered, so it isn’t see-through.
  • Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is good. It is comparable to a bikini you might find at Victoria’s Secret.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits well. I normally have issues with the front of bikini bottoms being too narrow and exposing, but these are wide enough. I do wish they were a little higher-waisted though (just my preference). View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this bikini is fairly priced.

4) Scalloped Hem One Piece

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Black / 8 C-D / $98
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 84% Polyamide, and 16% Elastane
  • Description: This monokini is pretty standard in terms of bathing suit material. It is not see-through, as is double-layered. The scalloped edges are laser-cut and no-show, so no bulky seams!
  • Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is good. It is comparable to a monokini you might find at Victoria’s Secret.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits pretty well. I typically have issues with rompers and monokinis being a bit too short in length, and these fit ever so slightly short (but not enough to be a dealbreaker). Also, the front of the bottoms is wide enough, which I also typically have issues with. View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this monokini is overpriced.

I received five items in one package from a warehouse in the United States. I was provided a tracking number.

Return & Refund Info

I requested a return via their online portal on July 4th. The return was authorized instantaneously, and I selected the Happy Returns option (this is a return solution by PayPal). I dropped the package off at a local Happy Returns bar (in my case, my local Gamestop accepts these returns), and I mailed the package the same day.

I received a refund of $214.06 (minus a $6.95 return fee and a $4.95 promotional shipping adjustment fee (see below for an explanation on this)) on July 5th. I received the refund one day after mailing the package. – View Refund Receipt

Note: Per a message from customer service regarding the promotional shipping adjustment, “As for the $4.95, please allow me to briefly explain this fee. If you received free standard shipping or discounted expedited shipping and make a return or return your entire order and reduce your order total to below the free shipping threshold, $4.95 would be withheld from your refund and you will be provided a $4.95 E-Certificate for use on a future order. To avoid this, you must keep your order total over the free shipping threshold by doing an exchange”.

Note 2: After comparing my initial order confirmation total and refund total, I realized they didn’t fully refund the tax I had paid (just by 36 cents). Regardless, I let them know on September 11th (I realized this only after editing this post) and they said that the tax in the refund is system generated, and they have refunded the difference.

Customer Support Experience

  • I reached out to customer service to explain the fees deducted from my refund, and they explained everything clearly. They also fixed an issue where they didn’t fully refund the tax.
  • When I asked them about sustainability (this is a different support agent from the above point), they ended the chat abruptly. Extremely unprofessional and very telling.

Is LASCANA Legit or a Scam?

In this section of the review, I will check their site for originality, discuss any suspicious information found, answer whether this company is legitimate or not, and let you know my recommendation. Keep reading for more!

Do I Recommend LASCANA?

Based on my experience, they are a legitimate site. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, successfully completed a return, and received a refund. I did have a minor issue with the tax not fully being refunded, but that has been resolved as far as I know (I expect to see the additional refund in the next day or so).

With that being said, I would shop here again.

I first want to address the negatives. Firstly, I have spoken to customer service via their instant chat twice, and I had a very unprofessional agent the first time (they ended the chat abruptly because I questioned their sustainability claim). Secondly, the tax amount not being fully refunded is strange and a bit annoying, but customer service seemed to address it promptly and provided the remainder of my refund. Finally, the prices overall seem kind of steep for the quality (this seems more accurate with their clothing and not necessarily their swimwear). 

The major positive for me is that their swimwear seems to be pretty good quality. I really liked both swimsuits I ordered, and I was generally impressed with how they fit (typical issues I have with swimwear were mostly non-issues with the two I ordered). Another positive is that their return process is really fast, simple, and straightforward since they utilize Happy Returns.

If you choose to shop here, always shop with caution. I urge you to read reviews by other customers as well.
