Let’s get right to it. Is midnighthour.com (the dark and mystical-themed clothing shop) a legit website? The short answer is yes, they are legitimate. I received my clothing order and successfully returned everything for a refund. Now the biggest question is, would I shop here again?

Is Midnight Hour sustainable?
No, they likely are not. According to their About page, they are committed to responsible sourcing and require fair wages and decent working conditions at all of their factories. Since they don’t substantiate any of these sustainability claims, I am inclined to think they are green-washing. I can confirm, however, that some of my items arrived in 100% compostable packaging.

- Fun fact, according to the Internet Archive, this domain was previously owned by a Funk/R&B/Dance/Rock cover band from Philadelphia called Midnight Hour in 1998.
- According to their Contact page, they are located in the United States. Their business address is 82 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024.
- According to my PayPal transaction, their legal business name is ACDC APPAREL INC.
- They provide shipping insurance through Monkprotect, seemingly at no cost to the customer.

I ordered the below items on 10/30/2023 to my address in North Carolina (United States). I paid a total of $237.03 to ACDC APPAREL INC dba Midnight Hour (info@midnighthour.com) via PayPal. The charge appears on my credit card statement as “PAYPAL *MIDNGHTHOUR”. – View Order Confirmation
1) Hypno Bat Cardigan
- Color, Size, and Cost: Purple / Medium / $84
- Country: Made in China
- Material: 100% Acrylic
Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality is decent. See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.
Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits a bit big, but this is my preference. View my Body Measurements for size reference.
Keep or Return: I would return this Midnight Hour cardigan.
While I like the fit, color, and pattern, the inside of the material is a little bit itchy on bare skin, and the price is WAY too high. This is Target-quality at best, and there is absolutely no way I would pay more than $40.
2) Embossed Velvet Fringe Dress
- Color, Size, and Cost: Blue / Small / $79
- Country: Made in China
- Material: Different materials are listed in two places:
- Product page- 92% polyester / 8% spandex
- Care label- 94% Polyester / 6% Spandex
Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.

While I would love the velvety material, the embossed patterning, and the tassel sleeves, I cannot justify paying nearly $80 for a Target-quality dress. It is very comfortable though, and I would keep this if it were much cheaper.
3) Gold-Foil Palazzo Pants

Expectation: They are exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.

Keep or Return: I would return these Midnight Hour leggings.
While I like the thicker material (it feels like a semi-thick t-shirt), it is a bit weirdly made. The center back seam runs through the top of the waistband down to the crotch area, and this visually doesn’t look very nice in my opinion. Most leggings and yoga pants I’ve tried and bought DO NOT have a seam running through the waistband. If you look at the inside of the garment, the front crotch seam is thick and sewn in a way that makes it slightly bulge when worn (it should be lying flat). I also see some areas that aren’t sewn nicely or symmetrically. With all of that said, there is no way I would pay nearly $60 for them.

Return & Refund Info
I requested a return through their return portal on November 10th. My request was approved instantaneously, and I was provided with a prepaid return label. I mailed the package on November 10th via USPS.
I received a full refund of $218.33 (minus an $18.70 handling fee) on November 16th. I received the refund 6 days after I mailed the package. – View Refund Receipt

Support Experience
- In the return portal, they offered me a full refund if store credit is chosen, or a refund back to my original payment method minus a handling fee of $18.70.
Provided return instructions and guidelines:
- Package the items and include the provided packing slip. Use the original packaging if possible.
- If you select the option to display a QR code, you will need to show your code using a smartphone at a participating USPS location. Note that the QR code can only be generated on the same day that your return request is submitted. If you do not choose to use a QR code today, you will need to use a printed label for this return.
- If you select to print a label, you will need to drop off your labeled package at a USPS dropbox or store. Be sure to drop off the package within 10 days.
- We’ll issue your refund or store credit once we approve your return.

Do I Recommend This Shop?
Based on my experience, they are a legitimate shop. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, successfully completed a return, and received a full refund.
With that being said, I personally would not shop here again.
While I like the dress and cardigan, and appreciate the fast shipping and seamless return, all three of my items are WAY too expensive. They are all just okay in quality, nothing near premium. I appreciate that the leggings are made in the U.S., but the quality is subpar, and I would much rather get better-constructed leggings elsewhere. Additionally, the return fee is almost $20! That isn’t too far from the cost of an international return… and this is domestic.
