In this all-encompassing review, we delve deep into every facet of the company, from my personal shopping experience (including orders and returns) to my honest opinion of their clothing. In this section of the Modlily review, I will go over general brand information, their policies, and more. Keep reading to get the details!
Who is Modlily? According to their About page, they are an online clothing brand that launched in 2009. They aim to be the preferred choice of global consumers who seek high-quality products, fast delivery, easy shopping experience, and excellent customer service. The brand’s mission is to offer a wide range of fashion that features the latest looks at affordable prices. They pride themselves on offering unique and uncommon designs that are timeless and satisfy customers’ tastes. They have their own designer and factory to ensure their clothes are comfortable and of quality. Each item in the order is just as it is shown in the picture, so the customers’ expectations are never let down. The brand uses professional photographers and models to capture every detail of their products. Modlily’s vision is to deliver goods to its customers all over the world with speed and precision.
Brand FAQs
What is Modlily’s seller name, and do they run any other online stores? The seller name shown on my PayPal account is Modlily.com. I am unsure if they operate other online stores, but I will update this section should I learn anything new.
What is Modlily’s legal business name? According to my shipment email, their legal business name is HongKong Yuzhen E-Commerce Co., Limited.

What does Modlily sell & do they carry plus sizes? They list categories for women’s swim, tops, dresses, bottoms, jewelry, accessories, men’s clothing, and more. They carry plus sizes up to 3XL (US size 26W-28W) in some clothing.
Where is Modlily located & what is their business address? According to a message they sent me, they are located in the United States. Their business address is – 371 Little Falls Rd STE UNIT 4, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009. However, their support team told me their business address is in the United States. I looked through their FAQ section, and they say that they are located in China. When I Google Modlily’s business address, I see “Room 2087, #15-3 Building, 999 Ningqiao Road…” in their meta description. This is a Chinese address.

Where is Modlily’s clothing made & where does their clothing ship from? Two out of three items in my order were made in China. The third item does not have a care label, so I cannot confirm. My package came from a warehouse in Cedar Grove, New Jersey (United States). The business address that they provided to me in a message is also their warehouse address.

How long has Modlily been in business? According to their About page, their business began in 2009. However, according to a domain age-checking tool, their website was created in 2014.
Is Modlily a sustainable brand? Since they don’t state anything on their site regarding efforts in sustainability, or ways that they give back to the community, it is likely that they are not ethical and are fast fashion.

- Processing Time: 2-10 business days
- Shipping Time: 9-14 business days (express available)
- Shipping Cost: $8.98 for subtotal under $69, free shipping for subtotal over $69, or express option
Return Policy
You have the option to return the item within 30 days of delivery. Only items in their original condition, without damage, stains, or wear, can be returned or exchanged. This excludes beach blankets, swimming rings, sunglasses, jewelry, and hair accessories.
The return process begins at the bottom of the return and refund policy page, where you click the Start a Return button. You can also log in and go to My Orders to begin the process. Follow the return instructions step by step to receive a return label. A fee of $9.99 will be deducted from the refund if customers choose to use the Modlily return label. Customers can also use their preferred shipping method and return the package to the address provided. Once Modlily’s warehouse receives the return package, they will process the return or exchange within 7 working days.

I ordered the below items on 6/2/2023. My shipping address is in North Carolina, United States.

❌ Most of the product images look to be partially AI-generated. This is terribly disingenuous ESPECIALLY since they state on their About page, “…capture the details of every style for you to preview before you make a purchase decision”. It is not possible to know what you’re getting when the product images are misleading or fake. (See image below)

- I sent a payment of $100.50 USD to Modlily.com (service@modlily.com).
- The charge will appear on my credit card statement as “PAYPAL *MODLILY COM”.

What I Received
I received all three items in one package, and the package came from a warehouse in Cedar Grove, New Jersey (United States). The items match what is on my order confirmation email.

Return & Refund
- Return requested and approved: I completed a return request for all items via their return portal on June 8th. It was instantaneously approved, and I was provided a prepaid return label.
- Return package mailed: I mailed the package on June 9th.
- Courier, return cost, and destination: They provided a prepaid shipping label through USPS, however, they will deduct $9.99 from my refund. The return address is in New Jersey (United States).
- Return received by Modlily: According to the return tracking number, the package was delivered to Modlily on June 14th. They did not send me an email letting me know it has been received.
- Refund received: I received $85.95 (full refund minus the prepaid shipping label fee and shipping insurance) back to my Paypal on June 27th. (See image below)
Total time from request to refund: 19 days

- Material: The product page states – 100% Polyester. The dress does not have a care label for me to cross-check.

- Expectation: It is what I was expecting, for the most part. The belt looks like it sits a bit higher on the model.
- Quality: The quality is okay. I see some loose threads. It is comparable to a dress you might find at Target or H&M.
- Fit: It is the right size, but I would prefer a bigger size. This is because the dress doesn’t have any stretch and the skirt is more of a straight cut. So if you have a curvier bottom half, you would probably want to size up. When ordering, I had followed the size chart.
- Value: This dress is overpriced. I would pay $25 at the most.
- Color: Black
- Size: M
- Cost: $28.98
- Material: The product page states – 88% Nylon; 12% Spandex. However, the care label states – 82% Polyester; 18% Spandex.

- Expectation: It is not what I was expecting. While the swimsuit looks like the product image, the material composition they list on the product page is false.
- Quality: The quality is okay. It is comparable to a swimsuit you might find at Target or H&M.
- Fit: It fits well. I followed the size chart.
- Value: This swimsuit is a good deal.
- Color: Coral
- Size: M
- Cost: $31.98
- Material: The product page states – 82% Nylon; 18% Spandex. However, the care label states – 82% polyester; 18% spandex.

- Expectation: It is not what I was expecting. The top fits very differently than it does in the product image, and the material composition they list on the product page is false.
- Quality: The quality is okay. It is comparable to a bikini you might find at Target or H&M.
- Fit: It is the right size, but it doesn’t fit my body shape well. The upper waistband fits a bit tightly. I could size up, but then everywhere else would fit too big. I had followed the size chart.
- Value: This bikini is fairly priced.

- Did the order arrive on time and as expected? Yes, the package arrived within the estimated time frame, and the items arrived as expected.
- Did they let you know when the items shipped and did they provide a tracking number? Yes, they sent me an email letting me know that the order was on the way. They provided the tracking number.
- What is the general quality of the items ordered? Based on my order, I would rate the general quality of Modlily’s clothing 3-3.5 out of 5 stars, which is decent. In other words, if fairly priced, I would be happy with the clothing.
- How accurate is the sizing based on the items ordered? Based on my order, the items are mostly true to size. I referenced the size charts.
- Were there any issues or discrepancies with the payment? No, my PayPal was charged the expected amount.
- Does the clothing have brand tags and sufficient care label information? No, none of the items have Modlily brand tags. Regarding the care labels, two out of three of the garments have standard care labels. The third item doesn’t have a care label attached.
📧 Support & Return Related
- Was the return request approved? Yes, it was approved instantly, through their return portal.
- Was customer service professional and easy to deal with? While I didn’t need to deal with them for the return since they have an automated return portal, I did reach out to them via instant chat. They are not very professional. I asked them about an address in China that I found connected to their site, and their response was “what??”.
- Did customer service offer any return alternatives? I unfortunately cannot go back and see, but I believe they offered store credit as an option.
- What country is the return address in and what was the return cost? Referencing the prepaid return label provided to me, the return address is in Cedar Grove, New Jersey (United States). As for the return cost, they will deduct $9.99 for the prepaid return shipping.
- Was the refund successful? Yes, I received the full refund amount minus the prepaid shipping label fee and shipping insurance charge.
- Did support reach out about any issues with the order? No, there weren’t any issues with the order.
🌐 Company & Site Related
- Are they sustainable? I do not believe that they are sustainable.
- Are their prices fair and are they affordable? Based on my order, I think they, for the most part, charge fair prices for the quality. Affordability-wise, the clothing is overall affordable. The average cost of a top is around $28.
- Is there anything important to know regarding any of their policies? When placing an order, they charge an insurance fee. Also, beach blankets, swimming rings, sunglasses, jewelry, hair accessories, and items marked on their product page as “No returns or exchanges” are non-refundable.
- Do they offer free shipping and other discounts? Yes, they offer free shipping for over $69. They do have coupons available.
Final Verdict
In this section of the Modlily review, I will answer whether this company is legitimate and if I recommend that others shop here. Keep reading for more! Note: If my purchased items arrive, I am able to return the items successfully, and I receive a refund in the agreed-upon amount, I am deeming the company legitimate.

Is Modlily Legit or a Scam?
Based on my experience, they are legitimate. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, was successfully approved for a return, and mailed the package. I received a full refund (minus the original shipping insurance cost and prepaid return label fee) on June 27th.
Do I Recommend Modlily?
If you are looking for the below – Yes, I recommend Modlily
- Generally affordable clothing
- Decent quality clothing
- Fast shipping (my order took 6 days from the purchase date to arrive)
- Easy returns (everything is done instantaneously through their return portal)
If you are looking for the below – No, I do not recommend Modlily
- Sustainable clothing (they do not mention anything about sustainability)
- An honest company (they use AI-generated images that do not fairly represent the clothing, and write false material compositions on their product pages to make you think that the quality is better than it is)
Always shop with caution. So far, I have found duplicate content on other sites such as About page wording, many inconsistencies in their FAQs and across their site, and false product information. I urge you to read as many reviews from customers as you can find, in order to make the best decision.
