In this comprehensive review, I’ll be giving you an insight into my shopping experience from placing my order all the way through to returns. Get ready for one of the best Popilush reviews out there!

  1. Who is Popilush? They are a shapewear brand that empowers women and takes an inclusive approach to beauty. The brand’s mission is to celebrate women of all shapes and sizes, offering high-quality shapewear in a diverse range of sizes.
  2. Do they claim to be sustainable? They are allegedly committed to reducing waste by following practices such as using textiles that biodegrade rapidly and minimizing plastic waste through their packaging practices.   • According to a marketing email, their business address is – 1715 Endeavor Dr., Williamsburg, VA 23185
  • Despite listing a U.S. business address, their Terms & Conditions page lists Hong Kong, and their domain information lists China.

In this section of the review, I will be thoroughly reviewing each item I ordered and will provide detailed information about the shipment and return/refund process. Keep reading for more!

Review

I ordered the below items on 7/20/2023 to my address in North Carolina (United States). I paid a total of $215.53 to 厦门茳皖茵贸易有限公司 via PayPal. The charge appears on my credit card statement as *SHAMENJTAUC”. – View Order Confirmation 

1) Shapewear High Waist Bikini Set Swimwear

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Blue / L / $65.99
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material:
    • Top: Shell– 57% Nylon, and 43% Elastane Lining– 86% Polyester, and 14% Elastane
    • Bottoms: Shell– 57% Nylon, and 43% Elastane Lining– 86% Polyester, and 14% Elastane Lining 2– 66% Nylon, and 34% Elastane
  • Description: This bikini set has two layers: The outer layer and the lining. The material feels very soft and smooth. It is stretchy. The material is decently thick for a swimsuit and is not see-through since it is multi-layered. Regarding the top, the band below the cups and the straps are thick and stretchy elastic, the padding is removable, and the straps are unhookable (can crisscross). Regarding the bottoms, the waistband is made of the same thick elastic, and the back has a zipper.
  • Expectation: It isn’t quite what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance. The front and back are MUCH more narrow in person (in other words, less coverage on both the front and back sides than I expected).
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is good. It is comparable to a shapewear bikini you might find at Express or Gap.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it overall fits terribly. The top’s band fits well, but everywhere else (the straps, cups, etc.) is too big. You can see lots of wrinkling and sagging. The bottoms (I am wearing them backward in the picture. I tried them the correct way, and they are basically the same fit minus the zipper) are extremely strange. The waist is at least one size too small, the coverage area in the front is one to two inches too narrow, and the overall length of the bottoms is MUCH too long. If I put it on properly, the waistband might come up to my upper ribcage. View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this bikini is fairly priced (despite a poor fit, it is well made).

2) Denim Tummy Control Bodysuit

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Blue / M / $59.99
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 77% Polyester, and 23% Spandex
  • Description: This bodysuit contains two layers: The outer layer and the lining. The material feels very soft and smooth on the outside, and the inside layer feels a bit rougher (similar feel to a fine mesh). It is quite stretchy. With the two layers, the material is still on the thin side but is not see-through. Although the bodysuit shows cups, there is no padding or ability to add inserts. It has a zipper running down the front, and the snaps at the crotch area are visible from the front.
  • Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is good. It is comparable to a shapewear bodysuit you might find at Express or Gap.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it somewhat fits. The top half fits like a glove, and the bottom half is about one size too small. I would size up next time since I have a bigger lower half. The overall length of this bodysuit is a good fit and I didn’t notice a wedgie or any pulling. I actually really like how this looks and fits, and it gives me a very nice hourglass outline. View my body measurements for size reference.
  • Value: In my opinion, this bodysuit is fairly priced.

3) Built-In Shapewear Wide Straps Mini Lounge Dress

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Light Brown / M / $74.99
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: Exterior– 92% Modal, and 8% Spandex Interior– 62% Nylon, and 38% Spandex
  • Description: This dress contains two layers: The outer layer and the lining. The outer material is ribbed, yet feels extremely smooth. The inner layer is mostly a fine mesh material. It is overall very stretchy. Even with two layers, it feels pretty thin, however, it isn’t see-through. It has built-in padding that is removable, built-in spandex shorts with an open crotch slit (makes using the bathroom possibly easier), and a small slit to one side of the dress.
  • Expectation: It is exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.
  • Quality: In my opinion, the quality is good. It is comparable to a shapewear dress you might find at Express or Gap.
  • Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and fits about one size too small. The dress was difficult to get on and off, and you can see that it squeezes my upper back. The material is a bit overstretched as well (it makes my figure look more straight). I am not convinced that this type of dress is the most flattering for my body shape.   • Value: In my opinion, this dress is fairly priced.

I received four items in three packages, and the packages came from a warehouse in the United States. I was provided a tracking number.

Return & Refund Info

I emailed support to request a full return on September 5th (I held on to this order for a long time since they have a 60-day return policy). My request was approved the same day, and I was provided with the return address and a pre-paid return label right away. They let me know that they will deduct $8 from my refund for the label once they receive the return package.

The refund is currently pending.

Customer Support Experience

  • Customer service was VERY fast to respond, and they provided me with the return address the SAME DAY that I emailed them for a return.
  • They additionally offered me the option to exchange the items for free, or keep the items and accept a $35 coupon for my next purchase.

  • They claim to be ‘body positive’ and loving of all bodies, yet they state things like, “Just slipping into shapewear first would get rid of the rolls, enhance your bust region, and define your curves perfectly”.
  • Lots of awkward sentences that read like a translator and thesaurus were used. This could be indicative of an overseas-run shop.

Do I Recommend Popilush?

Based on my experience so far (refund is pending), they are a legit company. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, and am in the process of sending the return package. I will update this section as soon as I receive the refund.

With that being said, as long as the return goes smoothly, I would absolutely shop here again! 

The clothing seems to be good quality, the prices seem reasonable for shapewear, they have some recyclable packaging materials, they have a very generous return window of 60 days, and the return cost is reasonable since the return address is in the U.S. (for U.S. residents). Also, their customer service is SPEEDY and to the point! I am impressed with my experience so far. The one thing I would say is a negative is that the size charts seem inconsistent. Definitely read the reviews on each item rather than solely rely on the chart if possible.
