About BloomChic

Is BloomChic ethical?

Yes, they appear to be somewhat ethical/sustainable. According to their About page, they use 100% post-consumer material that is recyclable. They also follow a C2M production model (consumer-to-manufacturer), avoiding fashion waste by manufacturing small batches, and collaborating with their supply chain partners in southern China. Every single U.S. customer return is allegedly donated to charities. I can also confirm that my items arrived in 100% recyclable packaging.

BloomChic Review and Order Details

I ordered the below items on 12/11/2023 to my address in North Carolina (United States). I paid a total of $147.20 to bloomchic via PayPal. The charge appears on my credit card statement as “PAYPAL *BLOOM2SP2”. View Order Confirmation

1) Plain Belted Metal Detail Lapel-Collar Coat

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Dark Green / 10-M / $52.80
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 100% Polyester
bloomchic belted coat comparison

Expectation: It isn’t what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance. While the color matches the product image, the quality doesn’t look or feel as good in person. It looks and feels like a flimsier/cheaper felt.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality is decent. See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits according to the guide. However, as I am not typically a size 10, it fits 1-2 sizes too big. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return this BloomChic coat (even if it were the right size).

As for positives, the sleeves are very roomy, the inner lining is soft on the skin and feels comfy, the gold metal details are elegant-looking, the pockets are deep, and I love the magnet closure (if you were to unfold the lapels so that they lay flat on top of each other against your chest, the magnets would snap together and create a high-neck). And regarding the negatives, the circular magnets beneath the felt are a bit noticeable in certain lighting, the felt material itself feels a bit cheap, and the ends of the belt loops are unfinished raw edges. This is a small detail, but something I noticed. For over $50, I would hope for something a bit better in quality.

2) Solid Drawstring Elastic-Waist Cuffed Pants

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Dim Gray / 10-M / $25.80
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: Slightly different materials are listed in two places:
    • Product page- 60% Polyester / 35% Cotton / 5% Spandex
    • Care label- 62% Polyester / 33% Cotton / 5% Spandex
bloomchic drawstring pants comparison

Expectation: They are what I was expecting, for the most part, in terms of overall appearance. The tie around the waist is WAY longer in person.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality is okay. See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and the size guide runs 1-2 sizes too small. I am typically a size 8, and these size 10 pants fit like a 6-8. For me though, they fit well. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would keep these BloomChic pants.

As for the positives, the waist fits like a glove while everywhere else is baggy (I like this), the material feels lightweight and thin (like a cotton/polyester tee), the string tie is decent quality (feels like a drawstring you might find on a nice hoodie), the v-shaped waist is flattering, and the pockets are deep. As for the negatives, it is overall made cheaply. The elastic band inside of the waist is narrower than the waist itself (you can feel the empty space below the band), the drawstring is round and bulky, which you can see through the material, the material rides up my backside slightly (I wish the crotch was at least an inch longer/lower), the material feels a bit cheap, and the drawstring openings are not strongly reinforced. For $25 though, I can’t complain too much.

3) Supersoft Essentials Floral Embroidered Crew-Neck Pullover

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Black / 10-M / $35.80
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 20% Rayon / 28% Nylon / 52% Acrylic

Expectation: It is what I was expecting, for the most part, in terms of overall appearance. The material seems a bit cheaper-looking in person.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality is decent. See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on the size guide provided, and it fits according to the guide. However, as I am not typically a size 10 (this was the smallest size), it fits 1 size too big for my taste. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return this BloomChic pullover.

To start with the positives, the pullover feels very soft on the skin and is comfy, the material is thin and stretchy (great for a cool summer night), the flower details are pretty (they are sewn in with clear thread which is interesting), and I like the oversized fit. As for the negatives, the ribbed band at the bottom is puckered (as though it had been overstretched), the sleeves are a bit short for my liking, and it is overall too oversized.

Return & Refund Info

I tried to request a return through their return portal on December 30th. However, the items were marked as ‘not yet delivered’ (I received the items the same day I did this), so I reached out to support for assistance. After a bit of back and forth with a support agent, they emailed me the prepaid return label directly. I mailed the package on January 2nd via USPS.

I received the refund in two parts. I received $32.80 on December 15th for the cancelled item, and the remaining $114.40 on January 3rd. I received the final part of the refund one day after I mailed the package. – View Refund Receipt

Provided Return Address: Parcel Return Service, 56901 (Washington D.C.)

If your return is international, I recommend printing out the native language version of the return address. For example, if your return needs to be shipped to China, print out the address written in Chinese characters. Tape it on the package next to the provided English address — per the advice of a USPS worker, doing this can help with delivery on the other side (though it is not mandatory for successful delivery).

If you received the same return address as I did and it is an international address, I have provided it above. Otherwise, it may be worth asking customer service for it.

Support Experience

  • Support was really quick and helpful in getting me the return label. As an apology for my trouble with their return portal, they provided me with a 15% discount code for my next purchase.
  • BloomChic canceled the dress in my order. They sent me the following explanations:
    • Automated Email“…You may be curious about the refund. If the refund nor per your request, we’d like to give you some explanations. • “The ‘green planet program’ is that we are all producing and selling at the same time, and there is no waste of fabric. But due to some products in our store are in great demand. Do I Recommend This Shop?

Based on my experience, they are a legitimate shop. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, successfully completed a return, and received a full refund.

With that being said, I would give this shop another try.

The overall quality isn’t amazing, but it is fine for my needs, the prices are within reason, they donate U.S. returns to charities and produce in small batches to help avoid waste (which is fantastic assuming it is truthful), support was fast in assisting and resolving my return issue, and they offer free returns. The few negatives are that my package took nearly 3 weeks to arrive, BloomChic canceled one of my items unexpectedly, and the sizing is inconsistent. Two of my items fit as expected for an M/10, but one item fits 1-2 sizes smaller than the size chart!

So overall, I would try this shop again but would read any available reviews to avoid the sizing issue.

To wrap up this review, regardless of my experience, be sure to read as many customer reviews as possible. If you found this post helpful in your search for BloomChic reviews, please consider sharing and commenting (via Reddit) below. Have a great day!
