Is MOCO Boutique sustainable?

No, they likely are not. They don’t state anything on their site regarding efforts in sustainability. They do, however, claim to regularly hold events to raise money for causes such as food banks and toy drives, and have successfully sponsored two Make a Wish campaigns.

MOCO Boutique Review and Order Details

I ordered the below items on 11/28/2023 to my address in North Carolina (United States). I paid a total of $261.67 to MOCO Boutique via PayPal. The charge appears on my credit card statement as “PAYPAL *ALDRIDGEBOU”. View Order Confirmation

1) An Unlikely Story Sweater

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Hot Pink / Small / $38
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 65% Polyester / 35% Acrylic
moco boutique sweater comparison 1

Expectation: It is what I was expecting, for the most part, in terms of overall appearance. It is less saturated and more magenta-colored in person.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality is okay. See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on my usual size (there wasn’t a size chart), and it fits well. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return this MOCO Boutique sweater.

While I love how soft and lightweight this sweater feels, it sheds like CRAZY. It left pieces of fuzz all over my floor and other clothes. I also spotted some pulled threads. The material feels a bit delicate, so I worry about snagging and its ability to survive a wash/dry cycle.

2) Judy Blue The Holy Grail of Nondistressed Skinny Jeans

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Dark Blue / 9 / $68
  • Country: Made in Vietnam
  • Material: 93% Cotton / 6% Polyester / 1% Spandex

Expectation: They are exactly what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality of the materials overall is decent, however, it is poorly constructed (the back seam running horizontally is not sewn straight). See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on my usual size (there wasn’t a size chart), and they fit a size too big. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return these MOCO Boutique jeans.

While I love the high-stretch material and length of the legs, the horizontal seam running along the backside (right above the pockets) is not sewn straight. Additionally, these are so stretchy that a size down would be a better fit.

3) Judy Blue Totally Topaz Tummy Control Flare Jeans

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Topaz / 9 / $68
  • Country: Made in China
  • Material: 93% Cotton / 6% Polyester / 1% Spandex

Expectation: They are what I was expecting, for the most part, in terms of overall appearance. They are a bit darker and duller in person.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality of the materials overall is decent, however, it is poorly constructed (the zipper area is exposed when it should be fully covered). See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on my usual size (there wasn’t a size chart), and they are the right size but are not a great fit for my body shape (snug in the hips, loose in the waist). View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return these MOCO Boutique jeans.

While these jeans are a gorgeous color and have a nice stretchy material, I have two issues with them. Firstly, the waist is a bit big and the hips are a bit tight. These are better suited for someone who has a slightly bigger waist and smaller hips than I do. Secondly, the zipper area is an issue. Not only was the zipper difficult to get up (it is bumpy and wavy), but the zipper itself was sewn crookedly. When worn, you can see that the inner zipper area is slightly exposed, and the material that is supposed to cover the zipper from the front is bowed (angles away from the center).

4) Judy Blue Get Something Straight Mid-Rise Jeans

  • Color, Size, and Cost: Blue / 9 / $68
  • Country: Made in Vietnam
  • Material: 93% Cotton / 6% Polyester / 1% Spandex

Expectation: They aren’t what I was expecting in terms of overall appearance. They are a less saturated, more grey-looking shade of blue.

Quality: In my opinion, the quality of the materials overall is decent, however, it is poorly constructed (the back seams, both horizontal and vertical, are sewn crookedly). See my Quality Comparison & Rating Chart to know my current quality-rating standards.

Fit: I ordered based on my usual size (there wasn’t a size chart), and they fit one size too big. View my Body Measurements for size reference.

Keep or Return: I would return these MOCO Boutique jeans.

While I love the distressed look and high-stretch material, they are not sewn well. From the back, you can see both the vertical seam (between the back pockets) and the horizontal seam (right above the pockets) are sewn crookedly. Also, since they are so stretchy, a size down would be a better fit.

Do I Recommend This Shop?

Based on my experience, they are a legitimate shop. I paid for my items, received them within the estimated time frame, successfully completed a return, and received a full refund.

With that being said, I probably would not shop here again.

While the shipping was really fast (6 days), and returns are cheap (if you buy their re:do $1.98 return label), I have a few issues with this shop. Firstly, every single one of my items has some kind of quality issue. The top sheds like crazy and has pulled threads, and all three jeans either have a crookedly sewn seam that makes them unwearable (for me) or have some other defect. Secondly, they don’t have size charts. I had to guess what my size was, and unfortunately, two of the jeans are a size too big. And finally, it seems a majority of their denim is by the brand Judy Blue. I am NOT a fan of this brand. I have tried A LOT of Judy Blue jeans, and they all have the same quality issues (crooked seams, uneven sewing, etc.).

I would MAYBE consider trying denim from this shop that is not by Judy Blue, but I don’t have high hopes that they will work out well. In my opinion, when it comes to jeans, you are better off going with a known high-quality brand. They will cost more, but should fit better, and last longer.

Overall, my shopping experience was fine, but I am disappointed with my purchase. I would personally shop elsewhere for my clothing (denim specifically).
